Drunk man gets stuck while trying to drive car on snowmobile trail

Deputies said the man admitted that he had been drinking and was trying to drive on the trail. In addition to being drunk, the man did not have a license.

A 19-year-old Maple City man got stuck while trying to drive a car on a snowmobile trail in Kasson Township early Friday morning.

According to the Leelanau County Sheriff, deputies were sent to the trail near West Kasson Center Road when a passerby saw the car stuck off the road.

Deputies said the man admitted that he had been drinking and was trying to drive on the trail. In addition to being drunk, the man did not have a license.

He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Less than two hours later, a woman at the Turtle Creek Casino told Grand Travers Band Tribal Police that she had given her car to a friend to go to the Acme McDonalds and he had not returned. The Sheriff reports the man was the driver who was arrested on the snowmobile trail.

The driver remains in jail pending a bond being set.
