Drunk man who forced his way into elderly woman's home facing felony charges

James Cantrall is facing an array of felony charges after deputies said he pushed his way into a mobile home and assaulted the elderly woman who lived there.

A 47-year-old Benzie County man is facing an array of felony charges after deputies said he pushed his way into a mobile home and assaulted the elderly woman who lived there.

James Cantrall was formally charged on Thursday.

He is facing one count of home invasion, one count of assault in the second degree with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct, criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree and one count of resisting and obstructing police.

The incident happened Tuesday evening at the Crystal Lake Mobile Home park in Benzonia.

The Sheriff said Cantrall, who was drunk, was trying to make the 81-year-old woman take him to the store to buy alcohol.

The woman tricked Cantrall by telling him to wait outside for her, then locked the doors and barricaded herself inside the home.

Cantrall is being held on a $250,000 bond.
