A 46-year-old Edmore man was arrested after pointing a pellet gun at a passing car in a fit of "road rage."

Lawrence Talbot Allen was arraigned on Monday afternoon on a charge of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon and could be facing additional charges.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened Sunday around 5:30 p.m. on Stanton Road near Grow Road in Sidney Township.

Deputies say a couple from Stanton was driving east on Stanton Road when they noticed they were being tailgated. They pulled over to allow the car behind them to pass, but instead the car pulled over as well. A man who was later identified as 46-year-old Allen, got out of his car with a tire iron.

The couple started driving again east towards Stanton. Allen passed the Stanton couple, then pulled over. As the couple passed the parked car, Allen then pointed a "long gun" at them.

Allen was located in Stanton and taken into custody. The gun was found to be a pellet gun. He was also found to be illegally carrying marijuana.

He is being held at the Montcalm County Jail on charges of felonious assault, on a $2,000 bond.

The couple was not injured in the incident.
