A drunk man was arrested Tuesday evening after officials say he pushed his way into his elderly neighbor's home and asked her to take him to the store to buy more alcohol.
The incident happened at the Crystal Lake mobile home park in Benzonia. Sheriff Ted Schendel reports that the 47-year-old man was ringing the 81-year-old woman's doorbell until she answered the door to ask him to leave.
The Sheriff says that the man pushed his way in and argued with the woman to take him to the store, or to let him use her car. The woman refused at first, but then asked the man to wait outside, saying that she would be out in a minute to take him.
When then man went outside, she locked her door, put furniture in front of it, and called 911.
Deputies arrived on scene to find the man banging on the front door. He was arrested and taken to the Benzie County Jail for first degree home invasion and disorderly conduct.
He is expected to be arraigned sometime Wednesday afternoon.
