Elk Rapids Superintendent resigns
ANTRIM COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Elk Rapids Schools Superintendent Steve Prissel has resigned.
Prissel made the announcement Monday night at the school board meeting.
The school board says Prissel is leaving to pursue other professional opportunities.
Prissel led the district for more than 8 years.
"I love Elk Rapids Schools and have greatly enjoyed my time with the students, staff and community. I am proud to have served as superintendent and appreciate the Board, staff and community for working with me to better the district. I will miss Elk Rapids Schools and the people I have had the pleasure to work with. However, after 8.5 years and earning my Ph.D., I have been contacted about and am motivated to consider other professional opportunities. I didn’t think it was appropriate and I have too much respect for my Board to be serving as superintendent and looking at other positions. It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as superintendent of Elk Rapids Schools. I wish the School Board, staff and especially the students success and I am looking forward to the next chapter in my career."
The school board president says they will begin looking for his replacement immediately.
