Employee contracted by Munson accused of embezzling thousands

A former food service manager contracted by Munson Medical Center is accused of embezzling thousands from the hospital.

According to a spokesperson for Munson, Jeffrey Joseph Ales used hospital funds for personal purchases such as gift cards, gasoline and other personal items.

Hospital officials estimate he made personal purchases totaling $27,500.

Ales is facing a warrant for embezzlement from a non-profit, which is a 10-year felony.

Ales was not a employee of the hospital, but was contracted as a senior food service manager through Sodexo, a company contracted to provide food service for the hospital.

The prosecutor says Ales turned himself in on Monday and is out on a $10,000. He is scheduled to be in court on May 5 for a preliminary exam.
