Enbridge's Line 5 temporarily shut down
EMMET COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Line 5, the utility line that runs under the Straits of Mackinac, has been temporarily shut down because of a power outage.
In a statement Sunday afternoon, representatives at Enbridge said the line has been shut down because of a power outage at the Superior, Wisconsin terminal.
Those at the company have decided to leave the line down until conditions improve in the Straits of Mackinac.
Conditions near the straits are being monitored and Enbridge plans to restart as soon as possible.
Senator Gary Peters said operating in the storm puts the Great Lakes at risk.
