Equipment damaged in fire at Graceland Fruit
A fire at Graceland Fruit's Forrester Rd. facility damaged a piece of processing equipment.
The fire was reported shortly after midnight Tuesday morning within a section of processing equipment.
All employees on-site were evacuated safely. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.
"Due to the actions of plant leadership and emergency responders, there were no serious injuries," said Al DeVore, CEO of Graceland Fruit. "We commend those involved for their professionalism in ensuring the safety of our people."
The company reports the fire was contained to a section of one piece of equipment within the 100,000 square foot facility. It also impacted one of the three fruit processing systems within the plant. The other system is expected to function as normal.
The company does not expect any loss of work for employees due to the fire. Employees who were affected by the fire in their area will be moved to other areas temporarily.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
