Boyfriend of missing woman charged with open murder
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- The boyfriend of 30 years of a missing Grayling woman has been charged in her death.
Michelle Kukulski has been missing since December 7.
On Wednesday the Crawford County Sheriff's Office continued their search for Kukulski. During their investigation Kukulski's boyfriend, Johnathan O'Connor, was questioned in connection to her disappearance.
Kukulski and O'Connor have three children together.
The Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney has issued open murder charges against O'Connor in the death of Kukulski.
Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Whitefield said O'Connor confessed, but told deputies it was an accident.
"As [Kukulski] is leaving [O'Connor] is following her out the door and he says a dog got between them and he tripped, fell into her, pushed her and she fell down the stairway and hit her head on the garage floor and became unconscious," said Sheriff O'Connor.
O'Connor is due back in court on December 27 for a pretrial conference and then again on January 5 for a preliminary hearing.
If convicted O'Connor faces life in prison without parole.
