Excess Coho and King Salmon will be available throughout northern Michigan this year.
Canadian American Fisheries, the contractor for harvesting the salmon from the DNR Weirds, will be providing the fish on short notice for distribution.
These fish are available to the public and the number of fish given to each family will be based on the turnout to receive the fish. You are asked that if you are able to provide food for your family, to please leave the fish for those in serious need.
The fish will be distributed at the following locations at 3:30 on Thursday:
ELK RAPIDS: Amvets, 410 Bridge St, Elk Rapids, MI (231) 264-5182
FIFE LAKE: American Legion, 10283 M-186 Fife Lake, MI (231) 879-4475
MANISTEE: VFW, 1211 E. 28th St., Manistee, MI (231) 723-9220
The fish will be whole so bringing a cooler or heavy bag is recommended.
