Explosion and fire injure two workers at car wash
An investigation is underway after a reported explosion and fire at a Northern Michigan car and truck wash. The first calls to 911 came in shortly after 9 pm Wednesday.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and seeing smoke and flames inside the Kalkaska Truck Wash, on North Cedar Street near the Citgo gas station.
When ambulances arrived on the scene, they found two workers injured near the rear of a truck that was in one of the stalls. Firefighters battled flames coming from the back of the truck, and burning on the floor in a path from the truck to a floor drain.
The two injured workers were taken to the hospital for treatment. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and limit the damage within the building. A search for answers as to what lead up to the fire is underway.
