      Fatal single car crash in Emmet County

      A 64-year-old man was killed in a single motor vehicle accident Monday morning in Wawatam Township.

      A 64-year-old man was killed in a single motor vehicle accident Monday morning in Wawatam Township.

      According to Sheriff Pet Wallin, the accident was reported at 5:41 a.m. as a vehicle veered off the roadway into a ditch on I-75, just south of Mackinaw City.

      Carl Norman Little Sr., of Gladstone, was heading southbound on I-75 when he lost control of his car and struck numerous trees on the side of the road.

      Little was pronounced dead at the scene.

      Southbound I-75 was closed for about 4 hours while the Mackinaw City Police and Fire Department, Michigan State Police, as well as the Emmet County Road Commission assisted in the investigation.

      The crash is still under investigation.
