State regulators are conducting an online survey and hosting public meetings this month to get feedback on proposed regulations that would expand Michigan's bass fishing seasons.
The Department of Natural Resources is considering a number of options in consultation with an advisory group called the Warmwater Resources Steering Committee. Each alternative would protect bass populations and include a winter no-harvest season, a 14-inch minimum size limit and a daily possession limit.
The public meetings begin Monday in Iron Mountain and end July 24 in Houghton. A complete schedule is available at http://www.michigan.gov/fishing.
Anglers and non-anglers are encouraged to complete the bass regulations survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BassRegs.
