A fire destroyed a camper in Kalkaska County late Friday morning.
Calls went out to fire crews after 10 a.m. for the camper on a property on Butler Road in South Boardman.
Fire crews were originally told people were inside the camper, but upon arrival they discovered that was not true.
The camper was fully engulfed when crews arrived and forced crews to worry about nearby trees catching fire. Firefighters sprayed trees first to make sure the fire did not spread.
Crews also report that the owner, who tried to extinguish the fire himself before firefighters arrived, was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
