Food trucks get green light for extended hours

Food trucks on private property can now operate from 6 a.m.-3 a.m.

Food trucks in Traverse City may stay open later, as long as they are on private property.

Traverse City Commissioners approved a change to the ordinance Monday night, allowing mobile food vendors to have extended hours.

Under the proposed change, trucks would open at 6 a.m. and stay open until 3 a.m.

City Commissioner Jim Carruthers said this applies primarily to The Little Fleet, at the corner of Wellington and Front St.

Food trucks that operate on city owned lots would not see their hours change.
