Four vehicle crash shuts down busy stretch of road
A four vehicle crash shut down a busy road in Grand Traverse County.
The crash happened Thursday around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of W. Silver Lake and Secor Road.
According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office, a blue Chevy pick up truck was stopped at the stop sign on Secor Rd. at West Silver Lake Rd. A blue Pontiac minivan on Secor Rd. crashed into the back of the Chevy and continued east into West Silver Lake Rd.
The blue minivan then hit a northbound blue Jeep before sliding into the embankment.
The Jeep was then hit by a red GMC Jimmy heading south on West Silver Lake Road.
There was one person in each of the vehicles involved. The driver of the minivan, a 23-year-old man from Beulah, was taken to Munson Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, a 33-year-old man from St. Johns, Michigan, was taken to Munson and is critical condition with a serious head injury.
The other two drivers were not injured.
All people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Traffic was diverted around the scene in two locations. The road has since been re-opened.
The W.Silver Lake and Secor Road intersection was closed for several hours while deputies investigated and cleaned up the accident scene.
