      Fugitive wanted in three counties arrested in Leelanau County

      Bruce A. Olson, who was wanted in three counties, was arrested by Michigan State Police Wednesday at a home in Lake Leelanau.

      A Charlevoix man who was wanted in three counties was arrested by Michigan State Police Wednesday at a home in Lake Leelanau.

      Bruce A. Olson, 43, was wanted in Emmet County for felony fraud and extortion and failing to appear in a domestic violence case. There was also a felony bench warrant in his name in Grand Traverse County for failing to appear on a insufficient funds checks case. The most recent charge was in Charlevoix County where he was wanted for stealing a car and financial transaction fraud.

      Michigan State Police received a tip that Olson had just left an area business. Investigators believed Olson was in the Lake Leelanau area after stealing a car in Charlevoix last week.

      Michigan State Police troopers made contact arrested him at a home in Lake Leelanau near the store described in the tip.

      He is being held at the Grand Traverse Jail until all legal matters are settled in the other counties as well. No charges are being requested in Leelanau County.

      The stolen car has not been found. It is a silver 2007 Jeep Liberty with Michigan license plate 7GJR01. Anyone with information about the car is asked to contact the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office at 231-256-8696 or by email at tips@co.leelanau.mi.us.
