      Funeral services set for fallen State Police trooper

      A service will be held on Saturday at Manistee High School. A viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. with the service scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

      Funeral services have been set for Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield who was shot and killed during a traffic stop near Ludington on Monday.

      A service will be held on Saturday at Manistee High School. A viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. with the service scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

      Herbert Funeral Home is handling the service.

      Butterfield was shot in the head during a traffic stop near Ludington Monday evening. He died during emergency surgery at Munson Medical Center that night.

      Eric Knysz and his wife Sarah Knysz were arrested at a gas station in Wellston about 2 hours after the shooting. Police said there was an exchange of gunfire during the arrest and the male suspect was shot. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
