The long time General Manager at Interlochen Public Radio is stepping down.

Thom Paulson first started at IPR in the summer of 1976. He was named General Manager five years later. Since then, Paulson has overseen a number of milestones that include the creation of IPR News Radio, growing the broadcast area to include most of northwest lower Michigan, and earning "Public Radio Station of the Year" from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters multiple times.

Paulson will still be invloved with IPR, primarily on IPR's classical music service. He will continue to host music programs and lend his experience for special projects.

Interlochen's President, Jeff Kimpton, says he'd like to see a new general manager named by early 2015.
