Gilde moves forward to trial in Missaukee County baby death

Gilde is facing five counts including second-degree murder and first- and second-degree child abuse in the death of Payton Disbrow.

A 20-year-old man will head to trial for the death of a one-year-old boy in Missaukee County.

Cole Gilde, of Osceola County, had a pre-trial hearing Monday morning and the case will now move forward to trial.

Gilde is facing five counts including second-degree murder and first- and second-degree child abuse in the death of Payton Disbrow.

Deputies were called to Cadillac Mercy Hospital in Dec. 2012 to investigate a baby's death. They said the child's body was badly beaten, bruised and severely neglected.

The child's mother, Brittani Grabbon, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in November and is expected to testify against Gilde, her former boyfriend.
