Glen Lake girls basketball head to MSU for state semifinals
LEELANAU COUNTY, Mi - On Wednesday, the Glen Lake Lakers girls basketball team left for the state semifinals in East Lansing.
The lady Lakers took part in a pep assembly at their school before leaving.
The gymnasium was packed with students cheering on the players, wishing them luck before they left for their game in East Lansing.
“It's unbelievable. I mean the girls, the hard work and sweat that they have put into it," Coach Jason Bradford said. "The special team that I have, you know the team chemistry. It's just a special group of girls and they're living the dream."
The team was escorted out by police as they left for their first state semifinal in 22 years.
The team will take on Pewamo-Westphalia in a Class-C state semifinal.
The game will tip off just before 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Breslin Center at Michigan State University.
