One killed, two injured after collision in Grand Traverse County
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 30-year-old Kingsley man was killed after colliding with another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Traverse City girl in Grand Traverse County.
It happened around 8 a.m. on Garfield Road and Voice Road.
According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, the 30-year-old Kingsley man was heading north when he crossed the center-line and hit a southbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old.
The 30-year-old Kingsley man was pronounced dead at the scene and the six-year-old passenger in his vehicle was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The 17-year-old was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Thaddius Bedford was driving his two children to school Thursday morning when he drove up on the crash.
He says he and another man were there before first responders arrived and found the 6-year-old in the backseat of the Chrysler.
"He was kind of talking the little girl and I was assessing what had happened and if I could help the driver in any way, but there was nothing I could do," Bedford said.
Bedford and the other man stayed and tried to help comfort the little girl.
"She was crying and asking for her dad," Bedford said. "It was heartbreaking. I've got two little boys. It makes you think that it can be done that quick."
The road was shut down for about four hours for investigation.
The sheriff's office will release the name of the 30-year-old once the next of kin is notified.
The crash does still remain under investigation.
