High winds and dry weather conditions fueled two grass fires in northern Michigan Sunday afternoon.
A grass fire on Johnson Road south of M-88 in Mancelona forced five homes to be evacuated.
Five fire departments and three DNR departments responded to the fire around one oâ??clock.
Officials believe the fire started when the wind spread embers from a campfire.
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
No structures were affected.
Crews battled another fire early Sunday evening on Valley Road in Kalkaska County.
The fire threatened a home, motor home and tent but nothing was damaged.
The fire is still under investigation.
