Heroin, marijuana, pills and cash seized during drug investigation
Seven people are suspects in a drug investigation which started at a home in Traverse City.
The Traverse Narcotics Team began an investigation at 1002 Barlow Street after concerned neighbors called police. Investigators said several sources confirmed drugs were being bought and sold out of the home.
A search warrant was executed at the home Thursday where police found a significant amount of heroin, marijuana, pills and a large amount of evidence to suggest drugs were being packaged for sale. Along with the drugs a large amount of cash was also seized. Investigators believe the money was directly related to the trafficking of illegal drugs.
Detectives also found a large amount of paraphernalia found scattered throughout the home, which they say indicated heavy drug use by those living in the home.
During the search, seven suspects were identified. Five of the seven people were arrested and are behind bars at the Grand Traverse County jail. Two of the suspects had outstanding warrants. Three of the suspects are facing drug trafficking charges.
The Traverse Narcotics Team was assisted in the drug investigation by the Traverse City Police Department, Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office, Elk Rapids Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
