High wind warning on the Mackinac Bridge

MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Drivers are being asked to take caution as they approach the Mackinac Bridge due to high wind.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority issued a high wind warning Wednesday to all motorists crossing the bridge.

Examples of vehicles especially vulnerable to high winds are pickup trucks with campers, motor homes, vehicles pulling trailers and enclosed semi-truck trailers. Drivers are instructed to reduce speed to a maximum of 20 miles per hour, turn on their four way flashers, and utilize the outside lane.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority is monitoring wind speeds at various points along the structure. Additional steps will be implemented if conditions change.
