Mon, 25 Nov 2013 14:04:12 GMT — The Mackinac Bridge Authority is issuing a high wind warning to all drivers preparing to cross the Mackinac Bridge. Motorists are instructed to reduce their speed to a maximum of 20 miles per hour, turn on their four way flashers, and utilize the outside lane. Vehicles which are especially vulnerable to high winds like pickup trucks with campers, motor homes, vehicles pulling trailers and enclosed semi-truck trailers are being escorted. The Mackinac Bridge Authority is monitoring wind speeds at various points along the structure. Additional steps will be implemented if conditions change. Storm Team Meteorologist Joe Charlevoix said winds across northern Michigan are going to gust around 40 to 50 mph Monday, but will subside by early afternoon.
