Hikers rescued from cliff of Pyramid Point at Sleeping Bear Dunes
LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Three hikers had to be rescued on Saturday when they got stuck on a cliff at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
According to Cedar Area Fire and Rescue, three men hiked down the cliff of Pyramid Point at The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore towards the beach and could not make their way back up.
Responders say the hikers were stuck on the cliff for two hours before responders propelled down on ropes and rescued them, about 150 feet from the water.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the United States Coast Guard.
Responders say one of the hikers nearly slipped on ice and fell down the cliff.
Park rangers want to remind everyone to not hike down the cliffs because it's very dangerous.
