Firefighters from 3 different departments found themselves dealing with a fully engulfed structure fire just after 6:30 Thursday evening. The fire started at home on Ramsey Road near Buckley in Grand Traverse County. During the fire, the home partially collapsed giving firefighters even more challenges to deal with.
An elderly couple lived in the home. Firefighters have been unable to determine if the couple was home at the time of the fire. As of 9 pm Thursday night the fire was under control and all of the crews made it out safely.
It's too early in the investigation to determine a cause, but firefighters did tell 7&4 News that the home was near the sight of a barn fire last Fall that was ruled an arson. An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin while authorities try to determine if anyone was home at the time of it.
