The inmate who walked away from the Cheboygan County Jail in November was arrested at his girlfriend's house in Oklahoma.
Donald Chaffin, 37, was arrested Friday at his girlfriend's house in Balko, Oklahoma.
The Cheboygan County Prosecutor's Office issued a felony warrant for escape on December 15.
"Our office is now waiting to see if Chaffin will waive or fight extradition," Vizina said.
Chaffin was in jail facing larceny charges and had been sentenced to a year in the county jail. He was on work release when he walked away, the Sheriff's Office reports.
"It was only a matter of time before we caught up to Chaffin, he could run but he could not hide," said Sheriff Dale Clarmont. "We are ready to pick him up so he can face his new charges."
Chaffin will now face felony charges for escape in additional to a habitual offender charge.
