Ironton Ferry parked in Boyne City for the winter
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The world famous Ironton Ferry will be taking a short break from its usual duties.
The ferry traveled to Boyne City to be removed from Lake Charlevoix to be worked on and inspected over the winter.
The break happens every few years during the boat's regular maintenance and inspection routine.
In the spring the ferry is scheduled to be returned to the water and reverse its trip back to Ironton to resume its regular, much shorter journeys.
