John Ernst sentenced to prison for aiding in Kopenkoskey's death
John Ernst is sentenced to 2-15 years in prison for perjury charges in Emmet County.
The judge, Tuesday afternooon, exceeded the sentencing recommendation of one year in jail.
Ernst, 59, took a plea deal in late March, pleading guilty to perjury charges. He's accused of helping Carol Kopenkoskey, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of her husband in 2012.
He helped her cover up the crime by disposing the gun and lying about it at the hearing.
Kopenkoskey was sentenced to 18-35 years in prison in Oct. 2012.
