Juveniles attempt to break into vehicles in East Bay Township

A 14-year old and 12-year-old male were caught attempting to break into parked vehicles in a hotel parking lot in East Bay Township on Saturday morning.
According the the Grand Traverse Sheriff's deputies, while patrolling the area, they noticed around 4:40 a.m. two males in the hotel parking lot on US 31 N.
The two juveniles fled on bikes when the deputies approached them. The deputies were able to catch up with them on the TART trail.
The investigation from the sheriff's office led to locating recently stolen items from a nearby gas station. Deputies are requesting charges of the two juveniles of retail fraud, minor in possession of alcohol, as well as attempted larceny from a vehicle.
An additional charge is being requested for the 12-year-old for minor in possession of tobacco.
The juveniles are turned over to their parents.
