A Kalkaska County Sheriff's deputy was arrested Wednesday for having sexual relations with a former female inmate.
The Michigan State Police has arrested the deputy, who has been identified as Aaron Popa, on three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The incident was reported by a former female inmate at the Kalkaska County Jail. She says she had sexual relations with Popa during a prisoner transport by the deputy in 2006.
Popa has been placed on unpaid suspension. He is also listed as the Vice President of the School Board for Kalkaska Public Schools.
Popa is scheduled to be in court on June 19 but his pretrial is rescheduled to July 3.
