Kalkaska mother arrested for prostitution, 2 men arrested for drugs
A 24-year-old Kalkaska County women faces prostitution charges after undercover agents say they were able to arrange a meeting with her at a Traverse City hotel.
According to the Traverse Narcotics Team, they were tipped off about the women from a caseworker from Child Protective Services. That worker reported that the woman may have been working as a prostitute in the presence of a 1-year-old boy.
Undercover agents were able to contact her on the phone and make arrangements to purchase prostitution services from the woman at the hotel where she was staying.
Agents were able to take the women into custody after she attempted to contact the undercover officer in a separate room. She was arrested for prostitution.
As the woman was being detained, a 36-year-old Detroit man who is believed to be the boyfriend of the woman was contacted. He was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
The child, who was present in the hotel room, was taken care of by detectives until caseworkers from CPS arrived.
When officers searched the room, they say they found drug paraphernalia including needles and heroin within reach of the small child.
While agents were dealing with that, two more men arrived at the room. One, a 32-year-old Detroit man, was taken into custody for heroin possession. The other man, a 30-year-old from Kalkaska, was not arrested however the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be considered.
