Lake sturgeon season finishes in under three hours
CHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Lake sturgeon season began Saturday morning at 8 a.m. on Black Lake in Cheboygan County.
Only seven lake sturgeon were allowed to be taken from Black Lake during the fishing season so the Department of Natural Resources ended the season after the sixth fish was caught.
The season ended at 10:23 a.m. Saturday when the final fish was caught.
Anglers 17 and over with a valid fishing license were able to register and participate in the lake sturgeon season.
To protect the fish the DNR put several rules in place, including having officers on the ice to exam internal organs and take a piece of fish for testing.
