Late police chief's 'Last Patrol' will go through Elk Rapids Monday
ANTRIM COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Last Patrol for the late Elk Rapids Police Chief will make its way through the village Monday.
A memorial procession is planned beginning in Traverse City and through Elk Rapids.
Law enforcement, firefighters and EMS personnel will escort the chief on his Last Patrol which starts at 9 a.m. at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
The procession will go through the streets of Elk Rapids, past the marina and high school football field.
Students will be waiting at the football field to honor the chief as the procession passes.
After passing by the football field, the procession will head back south on US-31 to New Hope Church where a visitation will be begin at 10:30 a.m.
People are encouraged to stand along the route to honor the chief and everything he has done for the community.
Chief Emerson's obituary asks that in honor of Tom people invest time into something they're passionate about.
The obituary reads, "The world will always be a better place after we give of ourselves."
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are being accepted at the Elk Rapids Fifth Third Bank.
