Lead in Hurlbert case runs cold
A lead in the Kelly Boyce-Hurlbert case that investigators have been working on since November has likely proven not to be anything.
According to Captain Mike Ayling of Traverse City Police, human hair was recovered from a vehicle in Oscoda.
The hair was tested using several methods including DNA, Ayling said.
Ayling said the results have now come back and the hair is "almost certainly not that of Kelly Boyce [Hurlbert]."
Kelly Boyce Hurlbert was killed July 5 while riding her bicycle home from work, when a driver struck her and dragged her body 1 1/2 blocks. Police say they have received more than 600 tips since the night of her death.
