Leelanau health facility makes healthcare accessible to underserved community
LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A one-stop shop facility in Empire is aiming to make healthcare more accessible.
Munson Healthcare invited community members to their newly named Empire Community Health Center on Monday.
The building on Ottawa Avenue is home to family care, a pharmacy, a physical therapy center and lab services.
Physicians say they eager to serve a previously underserved area.
"Our goal is to be an access point for this west side of northwest lower Michigan to provide more resources and services when it's been a little bit lacking," Dr. Cyrus Ghaemi.
The building has also extended hours and added on more doctors to keep up with demand.
Empire family care offers vaccines for children as well.
