Local musician takes national stage on 'The Voice'

Maloney chose Blake Shelton's team.

A Traverse City musician is headed to the next round of NBC's hit show 'The Voice".

Ryan Whyte Maloney was the first singer to take the stage Monday night.

All four judges turned around during the blind auditions, wanting Maloney on their team.

Maloney chose Blake Shelton's team.

Maloney started playing music as a child.

In 2001, he joined other local musicians to form the band Indulge.

The group played throughout Michigan, and moved to Las Vegas in hopes of furthering their careers.

Indulge eventually disbanded, and Maloney ended up switching his musical style from rock to country.

You can watch Maloney on upcoming episodes of 'The Voice', Mondays at 8pm on TV 7&4.
