Ludington Applebee's destroyed in overnight fire

The Applebee's on US-10 in Ludington caught fire early this morning. The Mason County Sheriff says the initial call went out at 4:07 AM.

Mason County Sheriff Deputies, the Pere Marquette Township, Scottville and Ludington fire departments responded to the scene. Deputies say the fire was most active near the building's roof. Flames could be seen shooting out of the roof and heavy smoke.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole says the restaurant building is considered a total loss but the cause is still unknown.

The late night Applebee's manager said everything seemed in order when she left around 2 AM according to the Mason County Sheriff's department. Fire crews are still on the scene cleaning up debris.

No roads are closed at this time.
