The Mackinac County Road Commission has laid off 14 employees on a temporary basis.
Officials confirm the workers will be back on the job as of June 2.
The commission is looking to save $50,000 because of the extra funds they were forced to use on winter maintenance.
The Grand Traverse County Road Commission recently had similar temporary lay offs that affected about 20 employees for 3-6 weeks.
Manager Jim Cook said at the time that the layoffs were a cost effective way to handle a spring that didn't allow for much road work. Once the weather allowed for crews to begin working again, the employees would be brought back.
