Man accused of embezzling more than $34K from non-profit
GLADWIN COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A man is being accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a local non-profit.
According to the Gladwin County Sheriff's Office, 49-year-old Martin Cooper was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for embezzling from a local non-profit organization.
The sheriff's office was contacted by the organization and asked to investigate the embezzlement of more than $34,000 over a 17 month period by Cooper.
The investigation was conducted and a warrant was issued for Cooper.
We're told Cooper agreed to turn himself in on the warrant and when he failed to do so, deputies had to find him in the city of Beaverton.
Cooper was then arraigned on a charge of embezzlement and a bond was set at $5,000 cash surety 10%.
