Man accused of sexually assaulting then-girlfriend's daughter
A 44-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend's daughter when she was under the age of 13.
According to the Wexford County Prosecutor's Office, Jerry Rice was charged with 17 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
If found guilty, each count carries life in prison.
Rice is accused of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 in 2004. She is now an adult and was encouraged to come forward by a family member.
The prosecutor's office said Rice was her mother's boyfriend at the time of the crime and the three of them moved around a lot.
The victim told the prosecutor's office that she contacted law enforcement in several other states where he assaulted her. The prosecutor's office could not confirm how many other cities or states may be involved in the investigation.
Rice is currently on parole for receiving and concealing stolen property and unlawfully driving away out of Wayne County. He is now being held in the Wexford County Jail.
