Man accused of stabbing brother in Montcalm County

The suspect, Brice Allen Miller, 26, the victim's brother, has been charged with assault in the stabbing of his brother.

A 26-year-old Crystal Township man is behind bars after deputies say he attacked his brother.

The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office responded to the stabbing at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday on the 8000 block of East Sidney Road in Crystal Township.

The deputies found a 24-year-old Crystal Township man with a single stab wound to the abdomen. The victim was taken to Carson City Hospital and later transferred to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. The victim underwent surgery and was reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect, Brice Allen Miller, 26, the victim's brother, ran from the scene before deputies arrived. He was arrested Saturday evening and was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. The charge is a ten-year felony.

He is expected back in court on April 15. At this time, he remains in jail on a $5,000 bond.

The motive for the assault is not known, but authorities say alcohol appears to be a factor.
