A Wexford County man was arrested after taking sheriff's deputies on a chase through Grand Traverse County. Just after midnight on Saturday morning, a caller reported a green jeep with a dragging and sparkling muffler crossing over the centerline and running drivers off the road. The car was going east on Blair Townhall Road toward Mayfield.
A Grand Traverse County deputy located the jeep on East Arbutus Road and tried to make a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and went east on Supply Road driving into oncoming traffice. Finally, on Broomhead Road, the driver lost control and crashed a few hundred yards from the scene where a deputy had deployed stop sticks. The driver, a 29-year old man from Wexford County had a blood alcohol content of .28% and was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Wexford County. The suspect is also on probation in Wexford County.
A warrant for Operating While Intoxicated and Fleeing and Eluding is also being requested from the Grand Traverse County Prosectuor's Office.
