Man arrested for breaking into church safe three times
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 23-year-old Traverse City man is in jail after police say he broke into a safe at a church.
It happened after hours at the Church of the Living God in Garfield Township on December 17 and 24, 2017 and January 8, 2018.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office says the suspect was seen on video surveillance and was identified by church employees as a son of a church member who had a key to the church building.
Investigators say there was no forced entry during each incident and the suspect's parents were unaware their key was being used by their son.
Cash and other miscellaneous items were taken from the safe.
On Wednesday a search warrant was issued for the suspect's residence in Kings Court trailer park where evidence was seized.
The man was arrested and is now in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
A report will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office requesting authorization of a 3-count warrant for Breaking and Entering.
