Man arrested for setting occupied tents on fire
A 60-year-old man was arrested for allegedly burning down two occupied camping tents on Saturday morning in Pere Marquette Township.
According to the Mason County Sheriff's Department, George Winters intentionally set the fire around 6 a.m. Saturday following an argument between the suspect and victims.
The Sheriff says that they are all part of a 'homeless community' where they have tents set up on a private piece of land near S. Jebavy Dr., with permission during the summer months.
One person did receive burns to their hands as they tried to put the fire out.
