Man arrested for assaulting state trooper
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A man was arrested for assaulting a police officer during a struggle in Grand Traverse County.
Dustin Jones, 33, was arrested on Wednesday after police were dispatched for a domestic situation and possible drug overdose.
Michigan State Police said they found Jones pacing aggressively and screaming incoherently in a Long Lake Township home.
When troopers tried to take Jones into custody they said he violently resisted and two troopers wrestled with the suspect.
Jones grabbed for a gun between his legs and troopers attempted to disarm him.
The gun went off, hitting a trooper's boot. The gun was later identified as one of the trooper's firearms.
Jones was eventually arrested and taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment. After release from the hospital he was lodgeed in the county jail.
Jones was arraigned Friday on charges of felonious assault, resist and obstructing justice and felony firearms.
