Man charged with embezzling in Chippewa County

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A man faces several charges after deputies say he embezzled from his employer.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says Reid Metals, Inc. in Dafter filed a complaint of embezzlement on the scrap yard manager, Lee Heck, in June 2017.

After a lengthy investigation, stemming back to 2015, deputies arrested Lee Heck, 32, on Friday, January 12.

Investigators say Heck embezzled $68,000 from Reid Metals.

Deputies say they seized numerous items from Heck's home.

During the search deputies also found marijuana and prescription Diazepam tablets.

Heck is charged with embezzling more than $50,000 and less than $100,000, possession of schedule 4 (Diazepam) and possession of marijuana.

Heck could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Heck is due back in court on February 22.
