After a warrant was issued for his arrest, a man in Oceana County has turned himself in for allegedly setting up several "ghost tows."
The man has been identified as Paul J. Rosse, the owner of Paul's Towing in Hart.
According to the Oceana County Sheriff's Office, a ghost tow is a form of fraud where the suspect places a fake call to AAA for a tow, usually long distance.
After AAA gets the request for a tow truck, they would send their local AAA facility, the suspect's company, who would collect for the call and not send out a truck.
AAA alerted the Sheriff's office to the situation. The Sheriff's Office reports Rosse's AAA contract has been cancelled.
Rosse has been charged with common law fraud, which is a 10-year felony, according to the sheriff's office.
He is out on a $5,000 bond.
